President Buhari's Umpteenth Gaffe
What is it with President Buhari and the foreign media? Why is it that anytime he travels outside the country, he decides to de-market the country? If he is not telling them of how we are all criminals, he is telling them how uneducated we are! Or how 97% plus 5% equals 100%. The issue of noisy ministers is still fresh in our mind. Then just a few days a go, in far away UK, before the world press and other Commonwealth Heads of Government, President Buhari told the whole world how a lot of the youth in his country, which he said comprises of about 60% of his nation's population, are lazy, laid back, indolent and uneducated. He capped it of by saying that all they do is wait for oil money. Can you imagine that? And to think that this was coming from a President who rode on the gullibility of the impoverished population to get to power! He promised them almost everything: from three million jobs yearly to primary school pupil feeding. From one naira to one dollar to five thousand naira monthly stipend? All these were promptly denied immediately after the President assended the throne. And he has the effrontery to call the youth of this country names! He has been in office for almost three years and has nothing tangible to show for it except that he has been able to expose the dept of his cluelessness. He has no capital project to his name; he succeeded in driving the country's economy into recession and, has totally destroyed the economy in less than 3yrs.
The cost of essential goods have tripled; petrol sells at double the price when he came in. One dollar now exchanges at 365 naira.
Come to think of it didn't President Buhari and his ilk enjoy free education, housing, available jobs and, all the best that the then regional governments could provide? Yet he has no certificate. He joined the military via nepotism. No wonder he is the grand patron of nepotism!
The only thing the man in Aso Villa has perfected is buck passing or blame game. He does not take responsibility for anything, except when Chibuike Amechi passes of one of the last administration's uncompleted project as his own. Just as he has blamed his inadequacies and inability to perform on the hard working youth of Nigeria, he has blamed PDP for all of his woes and fumblings. Just recently, he blamed late Moumar Gaddafi for the ethnic cleansing being carried out by his kinsmen in the middle belt. If this does not convince you that the man Nigerians elected is clueless personified then nothing else will. OK, let us agree that these marauders were actually trained by Gaddafi how come they bypassed the Northeast and only kill the people of the middle belt? Is that one of Gaddafi's agenda, though he died about 7 years ago? The President knew this when he asked the Benue people to accomodate these killers? He also knew when he planned on giving these libyans amnesty which will be funded with our oil money. Truly, you can't give what you don't have.
The reason some of us have remained unperturbed was because we foresaw this beforehand. Fela, the late afro juju star, didnt mince words when he dropped that hit-track: Beast of no Nation! It was all about how Buhari, then a military Head of State, called his people useless, senseless and, indiscipline. It is obvious that a leopard do not and can never change its colours. Yet people expected something new from him.
Mr Intergrity Indeed!!!
