Dino Melaye and His brush with Abuja.
What goes around comes around. Of course, the more you try to understand why we do some things we do as a human being the more brick walls you meet.
The case of Nigeria and politicians is a discussion that requires extensive inferential deductions! Or how else could you define a country that was so endowed but yet goes cap in hand begging for alms? Is this an intrinsic national value? No, it is not but it is so because of the wrong kind of leadership and followership, even the wrong kind of government system.
Every progressive country thinks about the people and nothing else! Quality education. Quality health services; amenities that are world standard; proper care for the elderly, et cetera. None of these is available in Nigeria. No wonder politicians exploit the poor, gullible youth to hang on to power. But who can you blame in this vicious, preying circle? It is a battle for survival!!
Now let us try to relate this to the page topic. Nigerian Senator Dino Melaye danced, cajoled the last PDP administration and rode on the acclaimed or much touted, which has been demystified by the undoing of the man himself, the integrity of President Buhari to become a Senator of Nigeria. So he became a Distinguished Senator plus the pecks that are attached to that. What he and his ilk fell to understand is that they just helped enthroned an intolerant man whose tool in trade is vindictiveness.
First, they went against the order by enthroning Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President.
Secondly, they made an opposition member a Deputy Senate President. It was a first in the country. But it is a democracy, but is the Executive President a democrat? Records have it that he is a tyrant, ethnocentric and a religious bigot.
He kept quiet, or so it seemed! Dino and his group felt everything is alright. But there is a grand plan for 2019...the next general election year. Toes have been stepped on all through the duration of the past three years. Promises have not been kept. The electorates are unhappy and they are a lot wiser. Even certain political bigwigs felt sidelined.
Now, what to do? The Aso Rock Presidential Villa is as sweet as far as the stories go. It must be retained. But the Senate is a clog in the wheel of progress. Why are they not dancing or 'yes-ing' along?
There ought to be scapegoats. Surely. Dino fits this description. He is a stooge of the Senate President after all. If we cannot have the principal, at least his stooge can go a long way in assisting the humiliation we have received thus far.
Hence, in connivance with the kindergarten governor who is having a running battle with Dino, a grand plan of bringing him down at all means was hatched. Two crooks came up in police net and alleged that Distinguished Dino bought them guns with which they committed murder. Murder! This is a crime against the state and the state cannot stand akimbo in the face of this.
As you read this Dino is in police net and is undergoing trials. A court in Kogi State asked that he be remanded in the cooler for over a month.
To think that about three years ago he put in his money, strength, wit, and so much more to bring this government to power! He will have his day in the court of course. My problem with this government is lies, propaganda, witch hunting and outright cluelessness. We saw all this coming but a lot, just out of hatred, decided to use lies to enthroned a government that has taken this country back some 15 years behind. This is my problem. And mind you, I am not a politician and I am not from the South-South region of the country. I am just a concerned Nigerian.
Dino had it coming all along. I am glad a lot of people will learn from his ordeal what to do at the right time.
Such is our fate and affliction for living together as a country! Your fate is decided by the majority!!
Happy reading.
